When you go to sell your timeshare, you are going to get numerous offers to sell your timeshare with promises of getting the exact price you want (or more). The only catch is that these services will want an upfront fee (it can be disguised in a number of ways such as an advertising fee, an appraisal fee, a marketing fee, a market analysis fee, a title search fee or any other number of fees where you will have to pay several hundred dollars or more upfront before they can list your timeshare. Never, ever pay an upfront fee to sell your timeshare as it will result in you losing money and you still having your timeshare.

The companies that offer to sell your timeshare will entice you with all types of promises and guarantees to get you to pay these upfront fees. These include a guarantee that they can sell your timeshare, that they already have buyers waiting to purchase it and that all payments are refundable. Don't fall for any of it or you will be parted from more of your hard earned money.

This doesn't mean that there won't be any fees when selling your timeshare. Fees for listing it on some sites may be required, but these fees should be quite reasonable at $25 or less, not in the hundred of dollars. If someone makes you lots of promises, but requires an upfront fee, walk away.

Did anyone ever find a legitimate way to sell your timeshare? Does E-bay work? or is donating it to charity the only way to get at least some of your money back?

SellMyVacation definitely goes into the category of SCAM. We were enticed by their insistence they had a ready market for the Olympic time frame. I'd like to take out a billboard blasting their lack of ethics.
